10,000 jobs in 10 years

The Committee for Ballarat’s conviction that jobs growth must lead population growth prompted the announcement in late May 2010 that the city must produce 10,000 jobs in 10 years. Around 60 members or their representatives attended the public announcement of the challenge, demonstrating the strong feeling across the Committee’s membership categories.

There have already been meetings with Members of Parliament and other stakeholders to further press the case and emphasise the realities of the challenge.  The Committee now has an even more compelling message to take to the Federal and State Governments when arguing for funds for the Western Link Road construction and the freeing up of land in the Ballarat Airport precinct for carefully planned business, industrial and transport development.
