“We congratulate the Premier elect, Daniel Andrews, on his election win, together with local representatives, Sharon Knight, Member for Wendouree, Geoff Howard, Member for Buninyong and Louise Staley, Member for Ripon” said Committee for Ballarat - Chair, Judy Verlin. Verlin added, “we look forward to working closely with the newly elected State Government and our three local representatives to deliver key projects that will enable sustainable long-term social and economic growth in our region”. Committee for Ballarat – CEO, John Kilgour said, “Ballarat was a united voice in the lead up to the election and we welcome the Labor Party’s pre-election pledges (refer attached scorecard). Over the coming months, we will work hard on behalf of our members to hold the new State Government to account for their commitments to ensure the promised projects and programs are delivered in a timely manner”. In the lead up to the State Election, the Committee for Ballarat strongly advocated for the activation of the BWEZ precinct, revitalisation of the CBD precinct, including the relocation of a State Government department; and the establishment a major sports and entertainment precinct in North Ballarat. Kilgour further stated, “in early 2015 we will be conducting a series of workshops with our members where we will review the outcome of the State Election, refine our Strategic Action Plan and prioritise our work for the year ahead to ensure that what was promised for our region is delivered”.
