20 Sep 2012Committee for Ballarat is proud of our involvement with The University of Melbourne through its Rural Health Academic Centre student accommodation project in Ballarat. The aim of the project is to provide high quality student accommodation facilities in Ballarat to support medical, nursing and allied health students from both The University of Melbourne and Deakin University whilst undertaking clinical placements in Ballarat as part of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program. Former CEO, Dr Doug Lloyd introduced The University of Melbourne to quality developers in Ballarat in late 2011 which enabled them to rapidly understand local opportunities. This was particularly valuable given the tight deadlines required by the Commonwealth for this project. Through the support of the Committee of Ballarat and in particular Dr Doug Lloyd, The University of Melbourne through its project control group has successfully selected a tender from Your Style Group. A property at Balanada Close, Alfredton is under construction to provide 32 beds for student accommodation. Eight dwellings are under construction with each dwelling to consist of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, large open plan living /dining area, outdoor entertaining area and separate study. Congratulations to all involved!
