22 Nov 2017
What an exciting and entertaining Round Table Dinner held on Thursday 16 November. Our 200 members and guests were entertained and informed by the effervescent Bryce Ives and spritely, yet down-to-earth, Annabel Crabb. The insights, the stories, the little bits of gold Annabel has collected in her 20 years of journalism provided us with a great opportunity to learn how best to influence and embark on advocacy.
Annabel was the most gracious guest, staying well after her keynote address to meet and chat with members and guests and pose with the many 'Annabel fans' in attendance!

More than Gold Campaign
At the dinner, Janet Dore launched Committee’s new project, More than Gold: Ballarat and Region – Our Story, an initiative of our Community and Health Project Team. This is an exciting campaign which will capture the stories of local residents on why they choose to live, work, study and invest in our community, and will showcase the vibrant and progressive culture of Ballarat and the region. Whilst the Ballarat region has often been defined by its rich history, we are so much “More than Gold” and now have a compelling story to tell.
As part of this project, we would like to capture the stories of some of our members - but we don’t necessarily want the usual suspects! Let us know if there is someone within your organisation who is happy to share their story of why they chose to live and work in our region.
The stories, and the collateral developed from them, will be used in our advocacy work. Interestingly, as part of her presentation last night, Annabel also spoke about the importance of stories in the advocacy space.
Leadership Program 2018
The dinner was also a tremendous opportunity to reflect and celebrate with the Graduates of the 2017 Leadership Forum.
