10 Dec 2015
On 10 December 2015, in a joint media statement, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss, together with Victorian Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford and the Mayor, Cr Des Hudson announced the release of the BWEZ Freight Hub EOI.
The announcement coincides with the issuing of the tender documents on the TendersVic website.
The aim of the announcement is to draw the interest of media and industry to ensure wide coverage of the opportunity and deliver high-quality bidders to the EOI process. It is hoped it will also draw attention to the delivery of the Ballarat West Employment Zone project and its objectives of creating employment and investment to the Ballarat Region.
The call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) seeks business interest in securing a site within the 24 hectare Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) Freight Hub to which the Commonwealth Government has committed $9.1 million. The EOI closes on the 11th February 2016.
The BWEZ Freight Hub project is about improving productivity and freight flows for the Ballarat region and is a key precinct within BWEZ which is considered to be the engine room for jobs and economic growth for the next 20 years.
This EOI is another key milestone reached in BWEZ and will support activation of the BWEZ precinct.
