We must plan today for delivery of high-quality public rail transport services between Ballarat and Melbourne, with strong inter and intra connectivity that meets the needs of our growing population. Our objective is to plan today for major infrastructure funding that will see delivery of a 59-minute “Fast Rail” service to and from Ballarat to the major capital city of Melbourne.
Committee for Ballarat's submission to the state government, following the conduct of a series of community consultation workshops to support delivery of an integrated Regional Network Development Plan (“RNDP”), is an effort to provide a coordinated regional public transport network where train and bus services work together to get people where they need to go.
Community and local stakeholder input will help to shape the plan, and a statewide engagement program commenced 22 June. Our submission to the RNDP, on behalf of members, is part of this process.
We look forward to discussing this submission and our priorities further with the Minister for Public Transport, the Hon Jacinta Allan, PTV – CEO, Mark Wild, VLine – CEO, Theo Taifalos and representatives from government, PTV and VLine over the ensuing months.
Committee for Ballarat Chair Judy Verlin AM and Chair Elect Janet Dore are members of the Regional Transport Advisory Group and will be providing advice to the state government and PTV on input/priorities emanating from the community consultation process.
