Committee for Ballarat Chair Judy Verlin met with the Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allen last week to discuss the future planning for train service....
"In the lead up to the official opening of RRL in July, we acknowledge the investment into regional rail lines as part of the RRL.
The announcement of a new morning and evening peak service from Ballarat and other extra services from Bacchus Marsh is welcome.
We have progressed, but more work can be done to look at what is needed in the future.
More and more people are using the service and the better it gets, the more people use it.
However due to the single track nature of our line, increasing the number of services and reducing the travel time remain difficult goals.
We are currently speaking to the government about lengthening some platforms so we can have extra rolling stock added to the current trains.
Ultimately we need to keep front of mind that a population of 200,000 people in Ballarat is only 35 years away and so it is absolutely critical that we get full duplication."
