The Andrews Labor Government, in partnership with the City of Ballarat and the Committee for Ballarat, will host the Ballarat Jobs Forum on Thursday 30 April to identify opportunities to support continued job creation in the Ballarat region.
Ballarat requires 15,000 new jobs in the next 15 years to support the projected population increase of 35,000 new residents. The economy needs to be transformed to deliver these new jobs.
The forum aims to deliver the following:
• Determine practical actions that will fundamentally improve the success of Ballarat businesses and lead to sustained jobs growth.
• Clarity around opportunities for Local Government, State Government and local businesses to improve collaboration to achieve success.
The Ballarat Jobs Forum will bring together local businesses, community leaders, unions and key stakeholders to discuss opportunities to grow jobs in Ballarat.
The Ballarat Jobs Forum will be hosted by Regional Development Victoria, in partnership with the City of Ballarat and the Committee for Ballarat, and the discussion will be led by Minister for Employment, Jacinta Allan and the Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford.
Invited participants need to think about what Government can do to help create additional jobs growth in Ballarat. How might we support existing ideas or new initiatives that can be activated quickly for maximum benefit? (i.e. short fuse, big bang)
The session will be conducted using some different methods to a standard meeting or discussion. To facilitate higher levels of interaction and knowledge sharing, and to maximise the limited time available, we will use a number of smaller group discussion methods.
Both John and Judy will be in attendance and are more than happy to pass across any opinions or views directed to them at the forum, please correspond to firstname.lastname@example.org
